Storytime with Katherine Baker

Let's hear a story from Katherine Baker:

It was one of those days where I really didn't know what I was expecting, but I knew I was ready for whatever it was. I knew the material. I was confident. I'd pass the test with flying colors.

Marine Biology was one of my favorite classes in school. I loved everything about it, learning every aspect of it, and it just came naturally to me. I didn't need to study.

So I was more than taken aback when I got back my grade. I had gotten a C. A C? I didn't get C's. I knew this stuff. I could practically teach this class! There had to be some mistake.

Of course, I stayed after to speak with my teacher. I explained to him that I knew everything on that paper. I even covered my answers and answered the questions orally to him. He said he'd look over the paper again.

The next day, he told me there'd been some mistake and that the grades had gotten mixed up. I'd actually gotten an A+. I was definitely glad that I was confident in my knowledge and that I confronted my teacher when I knew I did well.

Thanks to Katherine Baker and cast member Melissa Nyman for sharing this story.
