It was my senior year in high school and I had already begun searching for the right school to further my learning experience. My senior year schedule was as follows: Advanced History, Choir, English, Biology, and then I had early dismissal. I was all ready to go for the first week of classes, for I loved going to school. I loved thinking. You know how in high school, you walk in to your first class to scope out where you will sit and who you know? Well this one teacher had decided that the class would sit in alphabetical order, and I was placed next to George. Eek! This man was so opinionated and he always had to be right! So annoying. Because this was an advanced course we were told to do a research project and so no one was left out we were given partners. I am sure you know who I was partnered with... Mr. George Johnson! Later in the day I found out he was in my English class too, just like every year since ninth grade when I first met this sly, word-savvy, irritating man. Thanks to Mrs. Johnson and cast member Sarah Boylan for sharing this story.
Flash forward later that year….
After working with George all that time in History, even though we argued about everything related to it, I found he had a certain charm. Outside of history, I discovered that we had the same family oriented goals. Then one day in English to my surprise, he asked me on a date. Also surprisingly, there was no hesitation on my part. From then on we were a couple. We even got voted cutest couple in the year book, and he was most likely to succeed, not to my surprise. From that day in English when my heart took over my mind, I knew I would spend the rest of my life with him!
And you see Jenny, you just know when that one person comes. He is it. You just know.
